Flying in Formation

Have you ever read Chesapeake by James Michener?

Whenever I see geese flying overhead, I think of the goose couple whose story is included in that epic. I wonder how far the geese have flown and whether their children are with them. I wonder if they've left friends behind and if they know about hunting season. I hope they'll reach a warm nest where they can spend the winter before flying north to their chilly home.

I know a boy who simply wishes he could fly with them.
